She grew up in Iowa and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in elementary education, then earned a master's in educational leadership from Virginia Tech after moving to the DC area to teach. Janna now lives in Colorado with her husband, Tom, and their three children, Colin, Charlotte, and Chase. The family loves traveling and winter skiing and snowshoeing, and in her free time she enjoys trying new recipes, reading, and hiking in the mountains.
